On Saturday 24th November we held an open evening to coincide with the Trowbridge Christmas Lights switch on to remember loved ones who have passed. Members of the public were welcomed in for mulled wine, tea and mince pies and to write a memory tag for our Christmas Tree.
It was lovely to reconnect with families we have helped in the past few years and help them remember their loved ones in a meaningful way.
Donations were also collected for Trowbridge foodbank.

MOTORCYCLISTS led the tributes to a biking enthusiast from Southwick who escorted the hearse and family car to West Wilts Crematorium on Thursday October 26.
Headed by a brand new trike, the motorcyclists set off from the Farmhouse, which was close to Jamie Sutherland's house in Wynsome Street, to the funeral, where more than 200 people turned up to pay their respects at 1.45pm.
His wife Wanda said: "Jamie was a very popular man and was a keen motorcycle enthusiast. I so wanted his funeral to be a fitting occasion and appealed for motorcyclists to join in to give a fitting send off."
The funeral of Mr Sutherland, who died on October 6 at the age of 69 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, was followed by a gathering at the Farmhouse, the public house at Southwick where Jamie was a regular and made many social friends.
Mrs Sutherland also described her husband, who was a roofer and builder by trade, as a real people person who loved to socialise. She added he was very knowledgeable, popular and that he would be sadly missed.
Elizabeth was delighted on Saturday 6th February to support the British Heart Foundation charity Curry and Quiz night held at Leigh Park Community Centre in Westbury Leigh. The evening raised a large amount of money for the charity and a great time was had by all. Elizabeth seen here in the Red with the winning team.
Broughton Gifford Pre-School
This is the third year that we have sponsored the Broughton Gifford Pre-School with their Christmas Market. The sponsorship we have provided has meant that all monies raised have been used for the pre-school and not been spent on the outlay of the market.
Last year the monies from the Christmas Market contributed to the total of £35,000 used to pay for a beautfiul wood clad purpose built lodge. The lodge was officially opened in March 2015.
We are proud to continue to support Brought Gifford Pre-School with their Christmas Market. This year the funds raised are to be used to create a permanent path leading to the new purpose built lodge. At present the path is a well trodden mud one and so is in desperate need of refurbishment.
Any funds remaining would be use to improve IT resources for the pre-school children to fall into line with OFSTED requirements for all pre-school children to have access to IT and use it to aid their education.
UPDATE 07/12/15 We are delighted to have been advised that £838 has been raised at the 2015 fair.
Local independent Funeral Directors, Elizabeth Snell & Family Funeral Service, have recently been awarded with a prestigious, national award for Customer Service after being praised by people in the area who bought a prepaid funeral plan from them during 2014/15.
Mrs Teri Stout and colleagues at Elizabeth Snell & Family Funeral Service received the 2015 Customer Service Award following responses to a customer survey conducted by Funeral Planning Services, the company who provides administrative and investment services associated with prepaid funeral plans.
Plan buyers who responded to the questionnaire said they felt Mrs Stout and Elizabeth Snell & Family Funeral Service, provided them with a helpful and informative service which made making arrangements easy and provided peace of mind that final wishes were set out clearly and paid for. Plan buyers said they had peace of mind knowing their loved ones would not be burdened with having to make decisions at a difficult time, or have to worry about unexpected financial costs when the time came.
Pre-paid funeral plans – whereby funeral arrangements can be made and paid for at today’s prices, however many years pass by before that funeral needs to take place – are an increasingly welcome way to invest at today’s prices and avoid the difficulties associated with quickly rising funeral service costs.
One person who completed their questionnaire said, “Easy to understand and is informative. Thanks for all their help”.
Mrs Stout received the award at a gala award dinner held by Funeral Planning Services’ Chief Executive, David Taylor, at one of the UK’s top venues The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield.
